I am currently working independently on a research paper using AI to select the most optimal RO membrane based on data from the Open Membrane Database based on optimal water/salt permeability coefficients and solute/real rejection by observing changes in input variables such as the difference between hydraulic and osmotic pressures, salt concentration, membrane structure, filtration mode, etc. I used K-Means Clustering to create clusters of desalination membrane that have similar properties, after which I used cluster visualization techniques to find the best cluster of membranes (whichever has the best trend in membrane properties). I am working on narrowing down that list to determine the best set of desalination membranes.
