Jai #12 bday: Eliminate Hunger for Kids in Africa
Hi, this is Jai Sanan. For my 12th birthday, I am raising money to donate to the World Food Program (WFP), which is the world’s largest humanitarian organization that provides food assistance to people recovering from conflict, disaster, and the impact of climate change. The money that I raise will go towards providing sustainable meals for school-based programs in developing countries like Sudan. WFP works with the governments of more than 100 countries to provide meals to schools; sourcing locally boosts local agriculture and results in lower carbon emissions.
Every day, millions of children around the world go to school on an empty stomach, which affects their ability to learn. Also, millions of children simply don’t go to school because their families need them to help them in the fields or perform household chores. School meals help address many of these problems by incentivizing families in poor countries to send their children to school, which significantly improves the lives of children, their families, and the community.
Another way we can help minimize hunger is by reducing our food waste. 1/3rd of the total food is lost or wasted each year, but over 800 million people still go to bed hungry each night. We can easily feed everyone who doesn’t have food if we distribute food more evenly, and to do that, we need to only buy food that we need.
No amount of donation is small, and every dollar will be used by WFP to eliminate hunger for children in need and substantially improve the quality of their lives.
Thanks for your support.
