President Campaign
I have been elected to the Student Organization (“S.O.”) for all 3 years of Middle School (Grades 6 through 8). In 8th grade, I ran for the President of the S.O, where each of the four houses at my middle school voted for 2 candidates, and then all 8 candidates had to campaign and give a speech to the entire school of about 1,200 kids. I prepared well, made a very good speech, and reached out to my teachers and fellow 8th graders but ended up getting second place. I learned that learning from mistakes is a better way out than getting upset by failure and that it always pays off to be more proactive and reach out to as many people as possible for their specific ideas. In the words of Winston Churchill, “Success is not final, failure is not fatal; it is the courage to continue that counts.”
