About Day Zero Water

Day Zero Water is a student-led, registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that leads water awareness campaigns in New York and internationally. Our water conservation organization also implements water filtration projects in schools locally in New York and in high water stress areas around the world. Our mission is to make sure everyone around the world has access to clean, safe drinking water by:

  •  Raising awareness of clean water and water security
  •  Fundraising to implement reverse osmosis water filter systems in schools and high water stress areas
  •  Implementing water quality testing
  •  Providing innovative solutions to Water-Energy nexus issues
  •  Reducing, reusing, and recycling water including using smart devices and nature-based solutions
  •  Promoting sustainable use of natural resources

How We Started

In 5th grade, my Capstone project on water treatment disparities between developed and developing countries was sparked by two pivotal experiences: a bout of illness after drinking ‘filtered water’ in India and encountering “Do Not Drink” signs in Bronx, NY schools where I played weekend basketball games. I founded Day Zero Water in May 2018, a student-led nonprofit with the mission of providing clean water to schools and underserved communities in the U.S., Africa and India.
